Job Description:

The Electrical Controls Project Engineer will have a strong background in design & automation controls using Rockwell Allen-Bradley systems. This is a senior position in the electrical control & design engineering department and will focus on work involving custom equipment and machines. The role is in-house working from our head office/production facility, with very little travel involved.

• Lead development of electrical control systems for custom machinery, primarily the using Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMI interfaces.
• Drive the design process from specification through configuration, including the selection of appropriate enclosures, transformers, fuses, and other control system components.
• Spearhead the creation of new control systems, enhancing product offerings and addressing customer requirements.
• Produce detailed electrical drawings, process engineering change orders (ECOs), and generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs).
• Develop custom PLC/HMI software, ensuring systems meet the highest standards of electrical performance and safety.
• Manage and mentor junior electrical engineers and collaborate with external contractors and vendors to meet project objectives.
• Provide technical oversight throughout the fabrication and construction phases to resolve any arising issues.
• Execute on-floor equipment tests and install/test PLC/HMI software, crafting comprehensive support documentation, including operator and maintenance manuals.
• Occasional travel to customer sites may be required to ensure proper system integration and customer satisfaction.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEE/BSEET).
• 3-4 years of experience in the design and testing of custom automation controls, with a focus on Rockwell Allen-Bradley equipment.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical or other similar CAD package, and a solid understanding of wiring design, electric circuits and associated control elements.
• Familiarity with industrial standards (CSA, CE, UL, ANSI, NEC, ASME, etc.) and a track record of managing projects successfully within time and budget constraints.
• Excellent technical communication skills, capable of presenting concepts of operation clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.
• Desirable: Experience with robotics and related automation technologies.
