Content Area Or Department Brief DescriptionThe Early Childhood Integrated Systems (ECIS) content area addresses systems and policies for children age birth to eight and their families. Projects in this area build the capacity of state-level or large-scale mixed-delivery early childhood systems through cross-sector, integrated service delivery, policy guidance, system building efforts, and initiatives to support the whole child, whole family, and whole community.
Position OverviewAs an Early Childhood Specialist, you will provide professional development and technical assistance to support early childhood professionals throughout the country. This position is critical in delivering research-based, educational practices through assessment and curriculum that address a wide variety of needs for early childhood professionals. The Early Childhood Specialist will provide professional development trainings and webinars for the Desired Results Developmental Profile project and a variety of early childhood topics with a focus on supporting learning and development of children ages 0-kindergarten. Additionally, this person will create resources for in-person and online professional learning.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver professional development series.
    • Conduct trainings for early childhood professionals that demonstrate equitable and inclusive practices.
    • Conduct trainings on the Desired Results System in Spanish and English.
    • Deliver online modules using standards for adult learners and instructional design for online learning in Spanish and English.
  • Collaborate in the development and design of professional development materials.
    • Align project materials with state and federal initiatives.
    • Embed strategies for children with special needs, dual language learners, and supporting diverse communities.
  • Manage work to adhere to project timelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (master's preferred) in child development, early childhood education, or related field.
  • Bilingual and bi-literate Spanish/English required.
  • Teaching experience (Infant/toddler/preschool/TK/Kindergarten) or equivalent.
  • Experience presenting to large groups.
  • Experience developing professional development courses and/or resources.
  • Ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of internal and external groups and clients.
  • High comfort level with ambiguity.
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements preferred.
  • Experience/coursework for the digital delivery of professional development preferred.
  • Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Successful candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
WestEd conducts a criminal background check and education verification for all new hires. Any offers of employment will be contingent on receiving a clear background check in accordance with applicable law.Salary And BenefitsThe full salary range for this position, WestEd level 9, is $69,000 to $118,200, but WestEd does not typically hire at or near the top of the salary range. The typical hiring range for this role is $69,000 to $98,500. The actual offer takes into account multiple factors, including but not limited to education, experience, internal equity, and other organizational needs.

  • 15% contribution toward retirement effective day 1 of employment
