Alameda Electrical Distributor California Service Tool is Hiring an IT Systems Administrator Near Hayward, CA

Come join one of the fastest growing independently owned distributors in Northern California! Alameda Electrical Distributors and California Service Tool are looking for a Systems Administrator to handle fast-paced growth by optimizing technology operations and enhancing the end-user experience across the company. This role is based out of our Hayward, CA location, but remotely supports our technology infrastructure in locations located throughout Northern and Central California.

  • Full conversion of infrastructure from physical to virtual
  • Designing and integrating remote sites to current infrastructure 
  • Complex wide-area network design changes
  • Exploring the use of mobile technologies to a higher capacity

The Systems Administrator role includes developing, maintaining, supporting and optimizing key functional IT area. This role requires excellent technical skills, including an ability to troubleshoot issues in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  • Delegate IT resources as directed by the IT Director
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware and software support, training and special projects; implement network security measures
  • Manage hardware and software on servers, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, audio-visual equipment and related equipment
  • Develop, deploy and manage projects, including network related wiring plans, software and hardware purchases, system installation and hardware and software maintenance and support
  • Establish and maintain user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security; provide training and support
  • Research new technologies; provide suggestions for changes and improvements that reduce cost and/or increase productivity
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and parts as well as documentation of vendor activities
  • Develop and document system standards for computer and network devices
  • Interact with internal clients at all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provide answers in a timely manner
  • Administers Microsoft Server and Windows OS software. Manage and maintain all Active Directory services & profiles (Sites and Services, DHCP, DNS, Users & Groups, etc.), Symantec AV Enterprise, NAS profiles, MDM profiles, client applications, and various other Windows-based file server systems
  • Administers top-layer network protocols: Print services, RF warehousing environment, Ubiquities enterprise Wi-Fi networks, multi-subnet LAN networks, Windows Server via VMware clusters (V-center, V-sphere, ESxI, Windows Server Professional)
  • Configures software and resolves end-user related technical problems.
  • Responds to and resolves all help-desk requests
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline required
  • Minimum of 5 years system management and administration experience required

Computer Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with and/or in: Microsoft Windows desktop support, Windows Server Professional computing platforms, Microsoft SQL, VPN & TCP/IP and advanced networking topologies, advanced switching, MPLS, VoIP practices, telephony, and associated software
  • Prior experience with advanced report writing and Business Intelligence reporting preferred
  • Strong TCP/IP, layer 3 networking knowledge and troubleshooting abilities required
  • Professional certifications (preferred, not required): Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Knowledge and administration experience in Cisco switches (Catalyst 10Gb core switch, 1000/100/10 base-T topogies)
