Job Description
We have an immediate opening for an Ocean Import Agent for our Boston office (Chelsea, MA). The Ocean Import Agent is responsible for the daily movement of our customer's products from door to door (A to Z). This includes, but is not limited to, checking arrival information with Steamship Lines and NVOCC's, routing international shipments, negotiating rates with carriers, producing quotations, working with our customers and agents to acquire all required documents, processing documentation, creating billing invoices, communicating with overseas agents, problem solving, and tracking shipments, all while providing excellent customer service to our clients and overseas agents. Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. This position is Full-Time Non-Exempt.
COMPENSATION
Depends on experience.
EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in ocean import. Knowledge of ACH, ACE and ISF is a plus. Basic knowledge of import compliance required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Basic familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required. Basic accounting skills required. Good written and verbal communication skills required.
Hazardous Materials Certification, Air Import, Ocean Export, or Air Export knowledge is a plus.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED. College degree desirable. Will consider equivalent work experience in lieu of College Degree.
OTHER
Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Must possess exceptional attention to detail, and organization skills. Superior problem solving skills. Must be able to prioritize. Must be highly reliable, and able to work independently.
