Job Description
Shelby Baptist Medical Center: Located in Alabaster, this facility is equipped with 252 beds and sees over 51,000 patients in the emergency department every year. Shelby offers advanced technology resources including a 3 Tesla MRI, a robotic surgery program, and a state-of-the-art cardiology suite. Shelby offers a full range of services to meet the diverse needs of patients including fast, life-saving response times for patients with chest pain or stroke symptoms; cardiology, including specialized surgical services; orthopedics, including rehabilitation; and psychiatric care.
Job Summary
The individual in this position is responsible for overseeing the establishment, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of a patient-centered clinical pharmacy program. The individual will ensure clinical programs are effective and safe. This individual will provide pharmacy staff with the necessary resources and education to operationalize a robust, patient-centered, and cost-effective clinical pharmacy program.
Job Responsibilities
This individual's responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
-Ensure clinical pharmacy program provides patient-centered, cost-effective, and safe care.
-Develop new clinical pharmacy programs and services and ensure viability of new services in terms of patient care, cost-effectiveness, and patient safety.
-Develop protocols and guidelines in conjunction with multidisciplinary teams, as applicable, that support the creation and maintenance of the clinical pharmacy program.
-Provide support to the organization's Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and other pertinent hospital committees, which may include coordinating the agenda, scheduling, MUEs, formulary management, protocol and guideline development, etc.
-Oversee patient monitoring in order to evaluate and optimize patient outcomes, drug utilization and patient compliance, detecting and addressing Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), etc.
Education
Required: Pharm. D. or BS in pharmacy
Experience
3 Years or residency training; 1 yr supervisory experience
Certifications
Required: Pharmacy License; BLS within 30 days of hire;
Preferred: Board Certification in Specialty area, CGP, ACLS, etc.

Certifications:
Required: Pharmacy license
Preferred: Board Certification in Specialty area, CGP, etc.
Physical Demands:
Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs. of force. Frequent standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position.
