MAJOR FUNCTION

The primary responsibility of a Project Manager is to manage each project assigned to him/her according to Odin's corporate philosophy of safe, quality production and client satisfaction while securing the most favorable economic outcome for Odin. The Project Manager will understand and comply with published Company policy and procedures.

Reports to the respective Regional Manager. The Project Manager will coordinate budget, labor and equipment with the Vice President of Operations for the selection, assignment and utilization of job supervisors, foremen, engineers, health and safety officers, and workers.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Provide initial client contact to assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete project.

Prepare complete estimate for selected project with detailed review of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, contracting, and the project.

Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, etc.

Plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.).

Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required. Initiate and maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.

Assume responsibility contractual performance of the project.

Leads an interdepartmental team to complete an assigned project on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency.

Outlines the tasks involved in the project and delegates accordingly.

Conducts cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project.

Prepares and implements a budget based on estimates.

Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk (including termination of the project if appropriate).

Addresses questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project.

Acts as a liaison between company, customers, and vendors.

Communicates and collaborates with sales and marketing teams to provide training and information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.

Perform additional assignments per Supervisor's direction

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:

Education and experience include: 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.

Minimum of eight years construction management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.

Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, estimating, schedules and safety required. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential.

Highly detail-oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills and desire to be a team player.

Strong understanding of construction law through demonstrated experience advising federal and commercial construction clients, reviewing, and negotiating owner agreements, and/or handling and resolving construction change orders and disputes

Strong experience with Government (Federal, State, and City) services, contract administration, and procurement required. Construction services preferred.

Excellent computer skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.

Above average oral and written communication skills, leadership skills, and the ability to apply independent judgement and creativity to resolution of contract issues

Highly proactive and responsive to internal and external customers

Ability to exercise independent judgement and advise project leadership on complex issues

Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to communicate orally and in writing with vendors, management, and other coworkers, both individually and in front of a group

Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential

Sitting for extended periods of time is common

Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to prepare or inspect documents

No heavy lifting is expected, though exertion of up to 25 pounds of force may occasionally be required

Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculator, copiers, and fax machines

Good reasoning ability is important, must be able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business

Primarily a site position. Site visits and field project visits are required. Travel to offices and projects in various locations around the country as needed. The following physical activities are often, but not always, associated with site visits:

  • Must be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations

  • When on project sites or if performing some types of work or activities, must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to: earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed work boots, and high visibility safety apparel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job is primarily performed outdoors on a construction site and the location may vary due to company needs.

May have a main office but spend most of their time in a field office onsite, where they monitor projects and make decisions about construction activities.

Most managers work full time, and some work more than 40 hours per week. Construction managers' work schedules may vary. They may need to work extra hours to meet deadlines, and they may have to be on call 24 hours a day to respond to project emergencies.

The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associate with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary.

Job site environment, including, but not limited to, machines, tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, solvents, dust, and fumes

Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions
