Position Overview: As an Occupational Therapist (OT), your primary responsibility would be to help residents regain or enhance their independence in daily activities, improve their physical and cognitive abilities, and promote overall well-being. You would assess, plan, and implement individualized treatment programs based on each resident's specific needs and goals. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals and effective communication with residents, their families, and the interdisciplinary team are essential to provide high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' physical, cognitive, sensory, and functional abilities.
Identify their strengths, limitations, and rehabilitation potential.
Use standardized assessments, observations, and interviews to gather relevant information.
Treatment Planning: Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings and in collaboration with the resident, their family, and the interdisciplinary team.
Set realistic goals to improve residents' ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), and mobility.
Determine appropriate therapeutic interventions, techniques, and adaptive equipment.
Therapy Implementation: Provide therapy sessions to residents to improve their physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning.
Employ evidence-based therapeutic techniques and modalities, such as therapeutic exercises, functional activities, manual therapy, cognitive retraining, and sensory integration.
Utilize adaptive equipment and assistive devices to facilitate independence and safety.
Monitor residents' progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and document outcomes accurately.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
Communicate regularly with residents and their families to educate them about treatment plans, progress, and home modifications.
Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, interventions, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards for record-keeping and confidentiality.
Prepare reports and communicate residents' progress to the interdisciplinary team and other stakeholders as required.
