Salary: $17-$21 Hourly DOE

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the candidate will answer inquiries and provide information to the general public, students, visitors, and other interested parties regarding academic programs and direct traffic to departments, offices, and employees within the organization. Associates work closely with Admissions Office, Financial Aid Office, Billing & Payments Office, Records Office, Academic Departments, and Student Services. Associates must show initiative and be able to regularly handle confidential and sensitive information pertaining to students. Associates operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voicemail systems, and personal computers. Answer telephones, direct calls, and take/deliver messages. Serves as resource for the department.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must type 40 net words per minute with 95% accuracy evidenced by a typing certificate. A valid typing certificate from a 5-minute evaluation must be uploaded to your application. ESSENTIAL DUTIES – May include but not limited to:

  • Operate telephone system on Microsoft Teams to answer, screen, or forward calls, provide information, take messages, or schedule appointments.
  • Greet persons entering campus, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.
  • Receive payment and record receipts for services.
  • Schedule appointments; maintain and update appointment calendars.
  • Transmit information or documents to customers, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.
  • Analyze data to determine answers to questions from customers or members of the public. Hear and resolve complaints from customers or the public.
  • File and maintain records.
  • Provide information about establishment, such as location of departments or offices, employees within the organization, or services provided.
  • Perform administrative support tasks, such as proofreading, transcribing handwritten information, or operating calculators or computers to work with documents.
  • Collect, sort, distribute, or prepare mail, messages, or courier deliveries.
  • Perform duties, such as taking care of plants or straightening magazines, to maintain lobby or reception area.
  • Keep awareness and/or record of staff members' whereabouts and availability.
  • Schedule space or equipment for programs and prepare lists of participants.
  • Process and prepare memos, correspondence, or other documents.
  • Regular and reliable attendance at the College during scheduled days and work hours. Periodic evening and weekend work required. Some overtime may be required.
