By enhancing data management and accessibility, the SQL Developer & Data Designer will play a key role in improving the accuracy and speed of benefits delivery to veterans and their families. Location San Antonio, Texas or Washington DC Clearance Requirements Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Essential Roles and Responsibilities * Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated SQL code and database structures for the consolidated data store, directly supporting the modernized GI Bill claims processing system.
* Perform daily querying and analysis using SQL queries and procedures, enhancing the understanding of complex datasets within the system.
* Address broad problem sets and functional requirements to devise SQL queries that meet end-user business needs effectively.
* Manage the migration of queries, adapting and converting syntax from Postgres DB to a Redshift data store, ensuring seamless data transition and integration.
* Develop and optimize materialized views, stored procedures, and scheduled queries to enhance database efficiency and performance.
* Analyze existing queries to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize them for reduced runtime and increased efficiency against the Redshift database.
Qualifications Education * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience * Strong expertise in SQL development, with a proven track record of handling complex SQL projects.
* Experience with database migration projects, particularly involving Postgres and Redshift environments.
* Demonstrated ability to improve database query performance and system scalability.
Certifications * Relevant database management or SQL development certifications are advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications * Experience in federal government IT projects, particularly those requiring stringent security and data integrity standards.
