SwRI is Hiring an ASSOCIATE QUALITY ENGINEER - QUALITY ENGINEER - QUALITY SCIENTIST - QA Engineering Near San Antonio, TX

  • Provide quality engineering guidance for multiple projects supporting U.S. and friendly foreign governments, as well as commercial clients, conducted under recognized quality standards for hardware, software, and manufacturing.
  • Review customer quality requirement flow-downs and assist with creation of appropriate quality assurance and project plans.
  • Perform quality systems audits and surveillances to determine and evaluate the level of compliance on projects.
  • Acting as an integral team member, support product development and project management activities from the proposal stage through product delivery and warranty service activities.
  • Interface with project engineers and division management, as well as customer, supplier, and contract representatives as necessary on quality-related issues.
  • Assist senior QA team with the review of solicitations and prepare proposals and cost estimates for satisfying quality systems requirements.
  • Prepare, assist in the implementation of, and verify compliance to quality and program plans to ensure contractual quality requirements.
  • Review purchase requisitions and coordinate inspection, test monitoring and surveillance programs to verify compliance.
  • Conduct training on quality assurance to support staff on concepts and tools.
  • Prepare and measure quality system effectiveness through KPI tracking.
  • Participate in the review and disposition of nonconforming material and work with senior QA team to perform investigation and analysis to determine root cause, corrective action, preventative action, and effectiveness.
  • Communicate and coordinate daily with project personnel and QA engineers, scientists, and management.
  • Through feedback and observation assist in formulating and improving quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Aeronautics/Aerospace Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related discipline with related experience.
  • 0-6 years: Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, fabrication, or research environment in a quality or related internship/experience is preferred.
  • 0-6 years: Familiarity with quality program standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, CMMI or AS9100 is recommended.
  • 0-6 years: Experience working as a contributor to a project team is required. Familiarity with SW development is a plus.
  • 0-6 years: Must have excellent communication skills to work with project staff, management, and client representatives.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
