About the Team

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly-qualified Counseling Paraprofessional at Banning Lewis Ranch Academy in Colorado Springs, CO for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year!

The Counseling Paraprofessional - Behavior para independently implements behavior programs as instructed by the student services team and models behavioral programming for staff members who work with students with behavior problems.

At Banning Lewis Ranch, we serve students in Grades K-5. Highlights include our Capturing Kid's Hearts Program, Celebration of Learning Nights, 5th Grade Capstone Field Trip to Washington DC, and a well-rounded student schedule that includes Spanish, Art, PE, Music & Technology.

At Banning Lewis Prep, we serve students in Grades 6-12. We carefully transition students into Middle School with purposeful social activities and programs as LEAD our leadership development program, sports through the Central Colorado Athletic League, and numerous clubs and electives. In High School, we offer traditions such as Homecoming, Prom, and Student Senate. We focus on Concurrent Enrollment opportunities, Service Learning Projects, Senior Capstone Projects, and college and career readiness (such as online courses, career & technical business programs, foreign exchange program opportunities and much more. At the High School level, our athletes compete in the Tri-Peaks League and have many additional extracurricular opportunities such as Mock Trial, Jazz & Concert Band, National Honor Society, and more.

About the Opportunity:

  • The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors.
    • Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards
    • Obtains and maintains certifications necessary to support students with special needs
    • Implements established student behavior plans in a neutral and professional manner
    • Provides assistance in behavior management, to include appropriate utilization of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques
    • Performs direct observation of students in order to assist with functional behavioral assessment of students with behavioral problems
    • Collects, maintains, and charts behavioral data on students per established plan with behavior coordinator
    • Maintains regular communication with student's classroom teachers, special education team, counselors, and administrators, to identify changes/progress in behavioral interventions
    • Communicate issues regarding the physical setting of the student's school environment, to include the time-out area, to help ensure that it is appropriate for maximizing successful behavioral intervention for the student
    • Organizes and reports behavioral data for students receiving behavioral services at meetings with school staff and parents and in IEP team meetings
    • Informs appropriate school staff and/or behavior program coordinator of progress, changes, problems, materials needed, etc.
    • Assists staff members at school in performance of activities associated with student's behavior program when responsibility for behavioral programming is transferred to student's home school
    • Monitors/consults regarding established behavior programs that have been turned over to staff members at the student's school
    • Reports consistently for work as scheduled
    • Performs other duties as assigned

About You:

  • High school graduate - high school diploma or equivalent
