Aesthetic Oral Health is Hiring a Dental Assistant/ Dental Sterilization Technician Near Durham, NC

We have been serving patients in Durham since 2004 and consider it a privilege to serve those who would like the little added extra's in their dental experience. Consider this a Nordstrom-type customer service concierge dental practice. We thrive on making every person comfortable with the dental experience from the moment of the phone call to the check out process.

Dental assistant/clinical patient coordinator Full-time weekly Monday-Thursday 7:30am – 4:00pm with two Fridays a month. Must have great telephone etiquette and good communication with office manager.

The Dental Office assistant supports the clinical team by cleaning and documenting and sterilizing all instruments to be used in dental procedures, along with any instruments laid out for possible use. The person in this role may also assist the Dental Assistants by setting up and providing instruments during prior to or during procedures and have administrative support duties as well. Assisting the hygienist in patient care room, taking xrays, applying Fluoride treatments. During non-clinical times, the Dental Office assistant supports the scheduling coordinator with dental insurance claims, filing, chart management, inventory management, phone answering, greeting and seating patients.

Qualifications:

  • Standing 80%, Clinical, Sitting 20% Administrative
  • Moderate noise levels from dental and other lab equipment.
  • Dental, office, and lab setting.
  • Minimum lifting requirement of 35 pounds in order to transfer equipment and pack and unpack supplies.
  • Frequent patient and interoffice personnel interaction as this position assists patients and clinical dental team/dentist and heavily dependent on excellent customer interaction.
  • Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) as required for inspecting, maintaining, and sterilizing equipment.
  • Able to perform repetitive physical and mental tasks each day.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of and compliance with FDA and OSHA and office procedures for the maintenance and sterilization of dental instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain CPR certification.
  • Follows all safety procedures in handling of instruments, equipment, and hazardous waste material.
  • Maintain supplies of instruments and inspect for need for repair or replacement.
  • Provide hand instruments and materials to Dental Assistant, or Dentist, as needed.
  • Collect, clean, prepare and organize surgical and dental tools and instruments for use in dental procedures.
  • Assists with maintaining sterile working environment
  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies.
  • Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments.
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
  • Occasionally there may be some travel, by car or plane, required in order to participate in continuing education or seminars.
  • Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically.
