The providers are experts in all areas of neurological treatment and care including Muscular Dystrophy, ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's and, Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Cerebrovascular Disease, Seizure Disorders and Stroke Symptoms. In addition, we provide long-term care to patients with chronic neurological disorders.

Job Description:

Texas Neurology is seeking an experienced Medical Collections/Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Accounts Receivable Department. Candidates should possess relevant work history within a healthcare setting, excellent job stability and tenure of a minimum of 3 years’ experience in healthcare payment recovery from commercial, government and W/C payers, including patient collections. This position is responsible to contact third-party payers on claim resolution and to respond to claim denials or underpayments through our appeals process. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Identifies delinquent accounts, aging period, and payment sources.
  • Reviews each account via eClinicalWorks, reports, and other sources with an average productivity of 50 accounts per day.
  • Performs collection actions including third party appeals and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
  • Resolves incoming patient calls and maintain all patient payment arrangements.
  • Reports to regular staff meetings as directed.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality. Excellent customer service skills.
  • Tactfulness in dealing with insurance companies and patients regarding accounts in both verbal and written communications while always being professional and courteous.
  • Reviews all accounts in Collection Letter 1 status for accurate patient allocation prior to being mailed.
  • Reviews insurance balances unpaid after 60 days to send notices to patients and transferring balances to patients on insurance balance unpaid after 90 days.
  • Resolves all incoming insurance and patient correspondence pertaining to denials, incorrectly processed claims, patient concerns.
  • Reviews all credit balance accounts for processing of refunds on a monthly cycle.
  • Accounting skills to audit an account.
  • Monitor accounts sent to 3rd party patient collections
  • Reviews patient accounts via eClinicalWorks, reports and other information sources to make collection calls on priority accounts.
  • Places notes in patient accounts for front office staff to collect on payment arrangements and or monies due from patient for upcoming office visits.
  • Backup to Payment Poster on as needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned by Direct Report.

KNOWLEDGE, PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have good business writing skills.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.
  • PC in windows environment experience.
  • Able to fully utilize all modules of eClinicalWorks within 2 weeks of employment. Existing eClinicalWorks knowledge is a plus.
  • Medical claims experience that includes knowledge of the following: Account collections EOB review and analysis. Third party appeals processes Pre-certification and referrals Payment processing Rules and regulations of managed care organizations and government payers, State laws pertaining to payment of claims .
  • Able to understand managed care contracts by using provider manuals and other resources.
