Overview of Role Rothschild & Co Merchant Banking, the private equity arm of the Rothschild & Co group, is looking for an Associate based in San Francisco to join the investment team of Five Arrows Global Technology, Rothschild & Co’s new technology-focused private equity practice. Five Arrows Global Technology is in the process of raising its first fund and has already started to make initial investments. The fund will invest across the entire technology lifecycle (venture, growth and buyouts), with a focus on the U.S., Europe and Israel. The Associate will be an active participant in helping to establish and grow the business globally and will play an important role in supporting fundraising activity, executing investments and managing the portfolio. The Associate will be a member of the founding team, providing a unique and entrepreneurial opportunity to play an outsized role in helping to build a new business under the umbrella of a well-established private equity platform. Responsibilities Work with the Five Arrows Global Technology team to perform due diligence of primary fund investments, co-investments and secondary investments Conduct sector research, analyze private equity funds and technology companies, execute valuation analyses, create financial models, and develop investment proposals Support meetings with general partners and management teams, enable internal deal discussions, and facilitate investor meetings Monitor existing portfolio and prepare portfolio updates for internal and external parties Support fundraising activities and investor reporting and communications Education and Qualifications The ideal candidate will likely have 2-3 years of sector-relevant (technology) work experience, preferably with experience in either private equity (venture capital, growth equity, or buyouts), investment banking (sector groups such as TMT or software, or product groups such as M&A or leveraged finance), or consulting (covering technology or private equity clients) Experience, Skills and Competencies Required Demonstrable passion for technology and private equity Understanding of the technology sector and sub-sectors such as software, internet or fintech, as well as venture capital, growth equity and / or buyout markets Strong technical foundation in corporate finance and accounting, and deep analytical and quantitative skills, including substantial experience in financial modelling and valuation analyses Intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, with the ability to collect, distil and present information in a structured, concise and effective way, preferably with the help of advanced PowerPoint skills High attention to detail and clean presentation of results, along with ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with demonstrated ability to be proactive and work in an entrepreneurial setting Strong interpersonal and business relationship skills, along with a clear team mindset, and comfort working collaboratively in an international environment Strong sense of integrity and character Rothschild & Co North America is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
