Purpose/Job Summary:

As a Vision Therapist, you will play an instrumental role in treating binocular vision dysfunctions for your patients. To do this, you will be addressing each patient with a personalized approach. Each session is one-on-one (therapist-to-patient), conducted under doctor supervision. During treatment, you and our doctors will apply state-of-the-art technology and procedures (such as eye exercises, testing, occlusion (patching), lenses and prisms), making treatment enjoyable and productive for your patients. You will learn how to use our advanced approach that incorporates coordinated movement, balance, auditory processing, and cognitive abilities. Using this methodology will allow you to treat your patients to develop their visual abilities and improve their daily living in the classroom, the workplace and in sports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide energetic, warm and caring interactions with patients and their families to assess and address their needs
  • Adhere to and embody the Vital Vision Therapy patient service core values and standards
  • Plan and conduct vision therapy treatment plans based on patient goals and objectives
  • Assist in program development according to the doctors’ recommendations
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, communicating with doctors, therapists, patients and their families
  • Review, interpret and maintain session records while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
  • Apply knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology to inform treatment decisions
  • Stay up-to-date on advancements in therapy techniques and treatment modalities

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the doctors, administrative team, and fellow therapists to ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management
  • Take care of various tasks around the clinic

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Devoted to providing compassionate patient care and maintain confidentiality
  • Able to build one-on-one rapport with patients
  • Have excellent people skills
  • Possess a patient-focused mindset with a friendly and outgoing personality
  • Able to work in a team environment with oversight from doctors and teammates
  • Have a basic knowledge of computer software (updating and tracking spreadsheets)
  • Willing to continue education and interest in visual development

Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, certification, licensing experience, knowledge, skill and/or ability required. A combination or accumulation of applicable work-related experience and/or education may be recognized as sufficiently meeting the pre-requisites outlined below.

Required Credentials:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree in a related field.

Required Experience:

  • This is an entry level position, no previous vision therapy training is necessary. At Vital Vision Therapy we train all of our vision therapists to met our high level of treatment standards.
  • Once fully integrated, we will help you through the certification process, as we strongly encourage certification (we cover training and certification fees). As a Board-Certified Vision Therapist, you will be a leader in the Vision Therapy field!
  • Experience working with children or teaching is a plus
  • We will train the right person!

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is indoors in an office environment with moderate noise.
  • Requires high attention to detail and deadlines on a continuous basis.
  • Intermittent physical effort involving lifting of 20 pounds or less is required.
  • A typical workday involves frequent sitting, talking and hearing, approximately 70% of the time, along with frequent use of a keyboard and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately 30% or less of the time is spent standing and walking. 
  • Normal vision abilities required, including close vision and ability to adjust focus.
