Works effectively with others to meet patient and care provider needs. Actively promotes a lean work culture by performing team member duties to encourage consistent use of lean principles and processes, including continually seeking work process improvements. Experience No minimum experience required Preferred Qualifications 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory Education Associate's or bachelor’s degree in an applied science (e.g., biology, chemistry) Certification Summary No professional certifications required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strives for adult-adult relationships with colleagues, subordinates, and superiors Job Responsibilities Performs technical duties appropriate for a microbiology assistant. •Handles and processes microbiological specimens properly according to written procedures. Uses critical thinking principles to determine appropriateness of specimens. Performs waived testing functions appropriate for a microbiology assistant and provides set-up support for other testing performed by microbiology technologists. Prepares send-out requisitions and samples accurately for referral testing. Handles all equipment/reagent responsibilities as defined in written procedures. Maintains current technical knowledge and skills as defined in laboratory continuing education policy. Demonstrates familiarity with and follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including those pertaining to compliance and safety. Actively promotes a lean culture by performing duties to promote an understanding and consistent use of lean principals and processes. Looks for, initiates, and/or participates in quality improvement opportunities with same level of importance as performing quality technical work. Performs other duties as required by department. Recognizes necessity of taking ownership of own motivation, morale, performance, and professional development.
