Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Special Steel Inspector at Sri Gupta Inc. located in New York, NY. The Special Inspection and Testing Project Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing special inspection and material testing activities on construction projects. This includes coordinating with contractors, conducting inspections, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations. To provide inspectors and testing agencies to perform the Special Inspections and Tests set forth and required in Chapter 17 of the New York State Building Code (“Building Code”), as well as other inspections and tests that MTA C&D may require. The inspectors and testing agencies shall comply with the requirements of American Society for Testing and Materials (“ASTM”) Standard E-329 – Standard Specification for agencies engaged in construction inspection and/or testing.

SPECIAL INSPECTION TASKS
The Special Inspections Project Manager and applicable Special Inspectors shall:
1. Review and approve the categories of work requiring Special Inspections and Tests (prepared by the Designer of Record, Form IIA) prior to the start of same.
2. Review and approve the schedule of work requiring Special Inspections and Tests (prepared by the Contractor) prior to the start of same.
3. Prepare and submit a Quality Assurance Plan for review and acceptance by MTA C&D.
4. Ensure that labs and testing requirements meet the Building Code requirements and related reference standards.
5. Perform Special Inspections as may be required at the fabricator’s shop on contracts that are not using an approved fabricator.
6. Attend pre-construction meetings to review the scope of Special Inspections and Testing.
7. Attend meetings during construction as needed
8. Notify the Contractor’s personnel of the Special Inspector’s presence and responsibilities at the jobsite.
9. Inspect the work assigned for conformance with approved design drawings, specifications, and applicable material and workmanship provisions of the Building Code.
10. Perform inspection in a timely manner to avoid delay of work.
11. Bring discrepancies to the immediate attention of the contractor for correction.
