POSTED ON 6/3/2026

Step into a pivotal maintenance role in St. Louis, MO

Picture the start of your shift at our St. Louis facility: you review work orders, pull diagnostics on a school bus with an intermittent electrical fault, then take a quick test drive to validate a driver-reported vibration. Before lunch, you’re assisting a Tech I with a differential rebuild, ensuring all steps are documented and inspected. By day’s end, your bay is spotless, your paperwork is complete, and another safe vehicle is ready to serve students and the community.

About The Role

As a Technician II, you’ll handle mid-level to advanced maintenance and repair work across our fleet. Your focus spans diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance, including complex electrical and A/C concerns. You’ll collaborate with senior technicians on major component rebuilds and uphold rigorous safety and compliance standards so our vehicles perform reliably for the people who count on them.

What success looks like

  • You thrive in a fast-moving shop, balancing speed with exceptional quality and safety.
  • You’re confident diagnosing issues across major systems and closing repairs with precision.
  • You embrace modern diagnostic tools, document thoroughly, and keep your area organized.
  • You’re eager to learn from senior techs, while taking full ownership of assigned work.

What you’ll tackle day to day

  • Diagnose and repair: steering, electrical, cooling and lubricating systems, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and oil/temperature/gas regulating components—always in line with applicable Federal, State/Provincial, and local regulations.
  • Support major work: assist Tech I personnel with rebuilding engines, transmissions, and differentials as assigned by the manager.
  • Test and verify: perform test drives during preventive maintenance inspections to validate driver feedback, and post-service test drives to confirm repairs.
  • Quality control: secure required inspections/approvals before releasing any vehicle after major repairs.
  • See the whole picture: identify and report additional maintenance needs, including work requiring higher-qualified technicians.
  • Road support: handle road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
  • Documentation: accurately record time, parts, and all maintenance performed.

Safety and compliance

  • Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe workspace that meets all Federal, State/Provincial, and local requirements, plus company housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Immediately alert the Lead Technician to any unsafe maintenance conditions, practices, or signs of vehicle abuse.
  • Work your assigned AM or PM shift and take overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of medium/heavy truck fleet repair experience.
  • Strong diagnostic capability with electrical and A/C expertise.
  • Solid knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment; prior fleet background with both diesel and gasoline systems.
  • Own the recommended minimum hand tools for Medium/Heavy Duty and Diesel Technicians.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Valid CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • ASE certifications in brakes, suspension, engine, electrical, and A/C; Master School Bus and/or Master Truck Technician credentials are welcomed.
