Position Overview

As the Vice President of Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the organization, ensuring all markets operate efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with company goals.

You will oversee transportation operations, workforce management, fleet utilization, customer service performance, and operational processes while partnering with executive leadership to drive company growth, profitability, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities of the Vice President of Operations:Executive Leadership & Strategy

• Develop and execute operational strategies that support long-term company objectives and growth initiatives.
• Partner with executive leadership to establish organizational goals, priorities, and key performance metrics.

• Provide executive oversight of daily transportation operations across multiple locations and markets.

Financial & Business Performance

• Oversee operational budgets, forecasting, and financial performance.

• Monitor costs, labor efficiency, and resource allocation across all operational areas.
• Ensure operational decisions align with company financial goals and long-term business objectives.

Fleet & Transportation Operations

• Oversee fleet utilization, availability, and operational readiness.
• Partner with maintenance and fleet teams to maximize vehicle performance and reliability.
• Support fleet growth initiatives and capital planning strategies.
• Implement processes that reduce downtime and improve asset utilization.
• Ensure operational capacity supports current and future business demands.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Champion a culture of safety throughout the organization.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Oversee risk management programs and operational compliance initiatives.
• Review incident trends and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
• Ensure the organization remains prepared for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
• Promote adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Customer Experience & Growth

• Drive operational initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and service quality.
• Collaborate with sales and business development teams to support growth opportunities.

Qualifications of a Vice President of Operations:Required Experience

• 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, transportation, logistics, fleet management, or a related industry.
• 5 years of senior executive or multi-location leadership experience.
• Proven success leading large-scale operations and managing cross-functional teams.
• Strong experience in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and operational improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, financial performance, and business growth initiatives.
• Experience developing and implementing scalable processes and performance management systems.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to influence organizational culture and drive change.

Preferred Qualifications

• Executive leadership experience within transportation, mobility, logistics, rideshare, or fleet-based organizations.
• Experience managing multi-state or geographically dispersed operations.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance, and safety programs.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.
