The Strategic Project Manager plays a critical role in identifying, shaping, and evaluating high-value strategic initiatives within North America. Based in Houston, TX, this role focuses on the early phases of strategic projects (opportunity assessment, scenario modeling, and business-case development) to ensure initiatives are analytically sound and aligned with strategic priorities before investment or execution decisions are made. The Strategic Project Manager may also lead the end-to-end execution of selected strategic projects as needed.
In addition to shaping individual initiatives, this role contributes to portfolio-level assessment and prioritization, helping the organization allocate resources effectively and pursue the highest-value opportunities.

Your Role at a Glance
- Identify strategic business problems and opportunities through structured analysis, stakeholder interviews, and process mapping.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to compare strategic pathways and assess feasibility, cost, timing, and alignment.
- Define clear project scopes, assumptions, risks, and success criteria, and structure complex issues into actionable components.
- Prepare sophisticated ad hoc analyses consolidated into detailed reports and presentations highlighting business performance, market trends, and strategic opportunities.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to develop, evaluate, and recommend solution options using both qualitative and quantitative inputs.
- Build decision-ready business cases including ROI, NPV, payback, cost-benefit, and multi-scenario financial modeling.
- Communicate complex analyses in clear, accessible formats to ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Assess proposed initiatives for strategic, operational, and financial alignment, contributing to portfolio prioritization and governance.
- Provide concise analytical insights, risk assessments, and portfolio-level reporting in executive-ready formats.
- Define execution-readiness criteria, success metrics, and transition plans, supporting handoff to execution teams.
- Lead end-to-end execution of assigned strategic projects in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Support continuous improvement by enhancing strategic project frameworks and processes.
What Sets You Apart
We’re looking for individuals who bring the right mix of experience, mindset, and motivation:
- 7 years of experience in Project or Portfolio Management, Project Finance, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Proven experience in strategic analysis, business case development, and financial modeling.
- Strong financial modeling capabilities (P&L, cash flow, multi-scenario analysis).
- Ability to analyze complex data and deliver clear, decision-ready recommendations.
- Experience presenting business insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Experience supporting portfolio alignment, prioritization, and governance.
- Strong ability to present complex information clearly to senior leadership.
- Ability to build alignment across cross-functional teams.
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is highly valuable; energy sector knowledge is a plus.
