Position Summary
Working within a Reliability-Based Maintenance environment, the Machine Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining the company's formulation, filling, packaging, utility, and facility equipment and systems. The role executes preventive and corrective maintenance, improvements, and modifications; drives troubleshooting and root-cause analysis with Operations; supports OEE improvement; reads and applies drawings/blueprints; and obtains and maintains aseptic certification.
Position Responsibilities:
· Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, improvements, and modifications to production, utility, and facility equipment including fillers, pick-and-place robots, cartoners, case packers, pumps, air compressors, boilers, and other mechanical equipment.
· Provide training on maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems in compliance with company standards, procedures, and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc.).
· Serve as maintenance advisor to provide input on equipment design, parts and material selection, documentation, testing, problem solving, maintenance requirements, project scope, and follow-up.
· Assess priorities and make decisions related to troubleshooting and diagnostics of equipment operations; work closely with Operations to determine root cause and establish proper corrective actions.
· Conduct assembly, repair, and proactive maintenance for packaging, manufacturing, utility, and facility equipment and systems in a cost-effective manner.
· Proactively review equipment operation to determine deficiencies or improvements to increase OEE.
· Read and understand drawings/blueprints and use this knowledge for installation/repair of new and existing equipment.
· Obtain and maintain aseptic certification.
· Document work performed and produce effective project reports and presentations.
· Interact daily or frequently with Engineering Director, Maintenance Manager, Production Management and Supervision, Engineers, Quality Operations, Maintenance Technicians, Production Operators, Contractors, and Vendors.
· Safely operate company vehicles; pass testing to obtain and maintain a Forklift license.
Experience and Education:
· Journeyman Certificate with 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment; or Technical/Vocational School diploma with 5-8 years of machine repair or machinist-related work experience.
· Valid driver's license required to operate company vehicles; ability to pass the test to obtain a Forklift license.
· Possess a good understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and operations along with technical proficiency.
· Demonstrated knowledge in relevant technical areas.
· Solid understanding of GMP manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities.
· Cognizance of state-of-the-art technology in the industry to ensure the company utilizes current technology.

· Good communication and organizational skills; able to interact with all levels of the organization.
· Ability to articulate issues and solutions to the team; produce effective project reports and presentations.
· Analyze problems and determine appropriate corrective and preventive actions with minimal assistance.
· Capable of simultaneously managing multiple assignments; prioritizes own work.
· Flexible and responsive to changes.
· Use precision measuring devices and machinist's shop tools.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift 40-50 lbs unassisted.
· Regular bending, twisting, reaching, climbing ladders, kneeling, and use of powered lifts.
· Ability to work in tight spaces and varying temperatures for extended periods.
· Frequent repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and fingers.
· Colleague will work in a facility that manufactures Cephalosporins and must not be Cephalosporin sensitive
· Ability to work scheduled 40 hours and overtime as needed.
· Travel between campuses as work orders arise.
· Gowning requires balancing for a short time on one leg to the next.
