Position: 2026-2027 Academic Teacher, Focus: Kindergarten and First Grade
Job description: Leading literacy and math instruction for children in the first grade and second grade age ranges, in a mixed age small-group setting; Leading science and social studies lessons in a larger group setting
- 4-Day Monday-Thursday 9:30-3:30
- Plan and deliver literacy and math lessons on Monday through Thursday, with special focus on first grade and second grade levels
- Must have experience teaching reading to these levels: kindergarten through second grade levels
- For our hybrid homeschool students, collaborate with director to pace lessons to be taught at home by parents.
- In collaboration with the director and other teachers, prepare displays or performances for families for periodic showcases, to share and celebrate the students’ projects and work every 4-6 weeks.
- Document classes with a few photos each week of lessons and activities, and upload to the shared drive folder.
- Create a positive and caring classroom environment that is engaging while also setting clear group expectations for the learning community.
- Attend monthly online meeting with Zoe Learning House team to plan and share updates (we have some staff on Tues/Thurs, some staff Wed, and some all three days, so we want to connect monthly to share ideas and support each other)
Hours: 9:30-3:30 Monday through Thursday (program runs 10:00-3:00)
2025-2026 Academic Year is Aug 13, 2026 - May 13, 2027. *Staff will attend trainings and prep before and after these dates.

Candidate Requirements:
- As a Christian program, our staff should be able to articulate their personal testimony and faith in the Gospel
- Bachelor's Degree (preferably in education-related field)
- Teaching Certificate (preferred)
- Experience teaching foundational reading skills to kindergarten through second grade students
- Experience in lesson planning and preparation in order to provide quality instruction
- Two or more years of experience teaching children in a classroom / group setting
- Strong, positive classroom management skills
- Excited to join an innovative approach to education
- Flexible, collaborative, willing to teach in a multi-age setting
- Curriculum development and lesson planning
- A love for the arts, nature, and beautiful children's literature
Required trainings:
- Current CPR/First Aid Training (group training option)
- Professional Development Trainings During Staff Retreat beginning of August
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
