Pay: $45–$50 per hour (W2)

Job Overview
Nottoway County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support a self-contained classroom for Kindergarten–1st grade students. This is a full-time, contracted school-year position ideal for educators who are passionate about helping young learners grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction in a self-contained K–1 classroom
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs according to state and district guidelines
- Adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and school administration
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
- Support students in achieving academic, behavioral, and social goals
- Promote a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff
Qualifications
- Valid Virginia Special Education Teacher License – Required
- Experience with early elementary (K–1) learners preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to supporting diverse learners in a self-contained setting
Schedule & Assignment Details
- Shift: Days | Monday–Friday
- Hours: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Weekly Hours: 37.5
- No nights, weekends, call, or holidays required
- In-person position at district campus
- All orientation hours are paid
