About the Role:
Instrumentum, LLC is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Coordinator to oversee day-to-day operations in our Sterile Processing Department. This 3rd-shift role (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) is a 13-week contract position with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate. The Coordinator will lead a team of technicians, ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are processed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise sterile processing technicians and coordinate shift assignments to maintain workflow coverage
- Monitor decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments
- Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards, IFUs, and internal SOPs
- Perform and review quality assurance audits and maintain accurate documentation
- Train, mentor, and support professional development of SPD staff
- Manage equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting with maintenance teams
- Collaborate with leadership on scheduling, timekeeping, and operational goals
- Promote safety, regulatory compliance, and infection control throughout the department
- Assist in supply inventory management and reordering processes
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and KPI monitoring
- Handle other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of sterile processing experience
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role in healthcare or manufacturing
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of sterilization standards, OSHA regulations, and infection control practices
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with medical device reprocessing and general surgical instruments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and timekeeping systems
- Certification in sterile processing (CRCST)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Local candidates only
Preferred Qualifications:
- College degree or additional leadership experience
- CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) or healthcare leadership certification (HSPA-CHL)
Schedule:
- 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- 5 days per week, 40 hours
