The Early Childhood Aide supports the Lead Teacher in providing a nurturing, safe, and educational environment for young children. This role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, promoting the development of social and academic skills, and fostering a love for learning through a faith-based lens.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing the daily curriculum and educational activities.
- Prepare materials and set up the classroom for various activities, both indoors and outdoors.
Child Supervision:
- Supervise and engage with children during playtime, meals, and nap periods.
- Ensure safety and well-being of all children at all times.
Behavior Management:
- Support positive behavior by modeling and encouraging respectful interactions among children.
- Help implement classroom rules and routines established by the Lead Teacher.
Faith Integration:
- Participate in integrating biblical principles and stories into daily activities and interactions.
- Assist in leading prayers and other faith-based activities as directed by the Lead Teacher.
Individual Support:
- Provide attention and support to individual children as needed, including those with varying learning abilities.
- Observe and report on children’s progress and any concerns regarding their development to the Lead Teacher.
Family Interaction:
- Communicate with parents and guardians about children's daily experiences when appropriate.
- Assist in creating a welcoming environment for families during drop-off and pick-up times.
Health and Safety:
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, following health and safety guidelines.
- Help with meal preparation and clean-up, ensuring proper hygiene practices.
- Assist with classroom cleaning throughout and at the end of day
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities as required.
- Stay informed about early childhood education best practices and classroom management techniques.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience working with young children, particularly in a daycare or preschool setting, preferred.
- Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and a commitment to Christian values.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
