Duties
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts and ensuring safety at all times
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to track health status accurately
- Support medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Provide companionship and emotional support, especially for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, fostering a comforting environment
- Perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and ensuring a safe and clean living space
- Document medical records and care activities accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for seamless communication among healthcare providers
- Assist with medical procedures like catheter care or hospice-related tasks as trained and authorized
Experience
- Prior experience in home health care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or long-term care environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical documentation practices using EHR or EMR systems
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is required; additional certifications such as medication administration, hospice care, or working with disabilities are a plus
- Experience operating assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or performing vital signs assessments enhances your ability to deliver safe patient care
- Proven track record of maintaining patient privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations while delivering compassionate caregiving in home or community settings
- Ability to work independently in live-in employment arrangements or flexible schedules that meet patient needs
