What are the responsibilities and job description for the AAAS Fellowship 2026-2027 DOE position at Zintellect?
The AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) Science & Technology Policy Fellowship (STPF) Program provides opportunities for scientists and engineers to participate in program and policy-related projects at the Office of Science or other interested DOE Program Offices or DOE-approved locations. Desirable outcomes include some Fellows joining DOE as part of an office staff or collaborating with DOE scientists from academic or other positions. All will make professional contributions in areas of importance to the DOE mission. Fellows will:
- Gain first-hand knowledge of DOE operations and deep insight into the creation/implementation of federal programs for research and development
- Apply their scientific/technical expertise to the implementation of DOE-related programs and projects
- Gain experiences that will enable them to become part of the workforce supporting the DOE mission in the future
These activities may be carried out in collaboration with teams of multi-level federal employees, other Fellows, support service contractors, and experts from national laboratories.

Nature of Appointment
This program is administered by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). ORISE is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) asset managed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through a contract between ORAU and DOE. You will be considered a program participant and will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOE, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE letter of appointment and Terms of Appointment.
