We are seeking a highly driven Material Flow Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of material flow systems across warehouse and manufacturing operations.
This is a high-impact role focused on improving factory logistics, material delivery efficiency, space utilization, and productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in designing future-state systems, implementing automation and pull systems, and driving lean material flow strategies from warehouse to point-of-use.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize end-to-end material flow from warehouse to production lines using Lean principles
- Develop lineside replenishment systems including Kanban, pull systems, kitting, sequencing, and point-of-use delivery
- Create and maintain facility layouts for warehouse storage, routes, supermarkets, and production support areas
- Manage PFEP (Plan for Every Part), including packaging, delivery frequency, transportation methods, and inventory levels
- Lead material handling equipment projects from concept through implementation (forklifts, tuggers, AGVs/AGCs, carts, racks, automation)
- Perform simulations and data analysis to identify congestion, inefficiencies, shortages, and improvement opportunities
- Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Logistics, IT, Purchasing, Quality, and Suppliers
- Build ROI-driven business cases for automation, equipment, and process improvements
- Support cost reduction, space optimization, ergonomic improvements, and productivity gains
- Present recommendations and project updates to plant leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 5 years of relevant experience in automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments
- Proven experience with material flow design, warehouse logistics, and factory support systems
- Hands-on knowledge of PFEP, Kanban, pull systems, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement
- Experience implementing material handling equipment and automation solutions
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, ERP systems, and simulation tools
- Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced plant environment
- Fork-free material delivery strategies
- AGVs / AGCs / autonomous material movement systems
- WMS systems and tracking technologies
- Kitting, sequencing cells, and lean lineside presentation models
