Responsibilities
The Maintenance Superintendent leads maintenance operations in a 24/7 environment, overseeing technicians and contractors to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. This role focuses on equipment reliability, troubleshooting, and balancing preventative and reactive maintenance while driving a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance technicians in executing preventative, reactive, and project work orders while ensuring safe and efficient execution
- Prioritize and assign work orders to optimize schedule adherence, cost control, and equipment reliability in a fast-paced environment
- Review work requests, conduct field walkdowns, coordinate materials, and manage contractor activities with strong attention to detail and urgency
- Provide hands-on coaching, technical guidance, and troubleshooting support to technicians of varying skill and experience levels
- Support maintenance execution during shutdowns, outages, and unplanned events, adapting quickly to changing operational needs
- Monitor and control maintenance budgets, labor utilization, and overtime while maintaining operational effectiveness
- Approve timecards and ensure accurate maintenance records, reporting, and documentation within CMMS systems
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, 5S) to improve maintenance efficiency, reliability, and workflow effectiveness
- Coordinate closely with Production to minimize delays related to permits, equipment availability, and scheduling conflicts
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and ESHA standards while actively promoting a zero-injury culture
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education preferred
- 5 years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting skills and the ability to support complex maintenance situations when needed
- Experience with CMMS systems (SAP PM preferred), continuous improvement practices, and strong communication and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments
