We are seeking a professional and dependable part-time Medical Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our patients at our solo practitioner office. The ideal candidate will have a warm, personable disposition, strong communication skills, and the ability to make patients and families feel comfortable and well cared for - all while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
The Medical Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for providing excellent patient service while efficiently managing the day-to-day front desk operations of a busy medical office.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service at the front desk
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system eClinical Works
- Verify patient insurance coverage, generate a bill for visit, collect payment with precision
- Manage electronic health records (EHR systems), review documentation for accuracy, and ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy policies
- Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 coding to support billing and care plans
- Answer phone with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and managing appointment reminders
- Maintain organized medical records, update patient information, and support clinical confidentiality policies
- Support clinical staff by preparing documentation for review and assisting with health information management tasks
Experience
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative support role
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR system eClinicalWorks is highly preferred
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare and private insurance billing procedures
- Experience with medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and medical billing practices to ensure accurate documentation review and reimbursement processes
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in typing for efficient data entry
- Prior medical office experience is required to understand clinical workflows and patient service expectation
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies
- Exceptional organizational skills with clerical experience managing medical records and health information management tasks
