What are the responsibilities and job description for the Precision CNC Machining Specialist (Mills & Lathes) position at ZHP Manufacturing?
You start your shift by making the work area spotless and safe, following OSHA practices. With direction from the Cell Lead, you gather and prep tooling and workholding per the supplied work instructions. You set up a CNC mill and/or CNC lathe, load the program, and produce the first part. You verify the setup and confirm the first-piece meets print using micrometers, calipers, and your knowledge of GD&T. If anything looks off in the program or the part, you alert your supervisor immediately.
Once the run is underway, you keep a close eye on part conformity—making tool offsets as conditions change and maintaining proper coolant levels. You deburr parts, complete in-process inspection forms, and prepare components for downstream operations. When quality approves part geometry, you may install hardware such as standoffs and helicoils. Throughout, you keep the cell organized and support other assigned tasks to keep production flowing.
