Job Title: Field Service Technician – Cold Storage Equipment

Pay: $28–$35/hour (based on experience) travel allowance per diem
You'll be in the field : farms, ports, distribution centers, construction sites — installing, servicing, and repairing modular cold storage systems across the country. Our ZSTORE XL units combine 40' ISO containers with Thermo King refrigeration. You'll position them, connect them, and keep them running.
We're hiring two technicians with complementary skills. One leans toward refrigeration and electrical. One leans toward equipment operation and fabrication. Both need to be capable generalists who can handle whatever the job throws at them.
What You'll Do:
- Operate forklifts, cranes, reach stackers, and telehandlers to position and install containers
- Weld (MIG and stick), grind, cut, and fabricate metal components
- Troubleshoot and repair Thermo King, Carrier, Daikin, and StarCool refrigeration units
- Perform PTI, diagnostics, and commissioning on reefer systems
- Program and calibrate controllers (MP-5000) and telematics (ZTRACK)
- Maintain and repair diesel generators, hydraulic systems, compressors
- Perform structural modifications: door installations, container merging, platform builds
- Rig containers for crane lifts — cables, chains, shackles, spreader bars
- Conduct preventive maintenance across customer sites nationwide
- Respond to emergency service calls — nights and weekends when needed
- Document service calls, parts usage, and work completed
What You Bring:
You don't need to be an expert at everything — but you need to be solid across the board and strong in at least one area.
Refrigeration & Electrical:
- Experience with reefer containers or commercial refrigeration systems
- Thermo King systems preferred (Magnum Plus, MP-5000)
- EPA 608 certification (Universal preferred)
- Electrical troubleshooting: wiring, control circuits, sensors, relays
- Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams
Equipment Operation & Fabrication:
- Forklift operation (certified or able to certify immediately)
- Crane, reach stacker, telehandler experience
- Welding: MIG and stick, metal cutting, grinding, basic fabrication
- Rigging: load calculations, lift planning, safe practices
- Mechanical repair: diesel generators, hydraulics, pumps
Required for All:
- 3 years hands-on field experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish — required
- Valid driver's license, clean record; CDL a plus
- OSHA 10/30, TWIC card, or offshore/maritime credentials a plus
- Comfortable with 60-80% travel, often on short notice
