What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Operations Coordinator position at Zest Health?
About Us:
Zest Health is redefining care for the 40M Americans with chronic dermatologic conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Through our virtual dermatology clinic, Zest is making care more accessible, effective, and affordable. Join our well-resourced, passionate team as we set the new gold standard for value-based specialty care.
Job Summary:
Zest Health is seeking a Clinical Operations Coordinator to join our growing team. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and working closely with the Clinical Director, you will own the systems, workflows, and tracking infrastructure that keep our provider network compliant, credentialed, and ready to practice. This role sits at the intersection of licensure, payer credentialing, partnership activation, and clinical hiring — and directly enables Zest's growth.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Licensure & Credentialing
- Manage end-to-end provider licensing lifecycle: initiating, tracking applications, coordinating primary source verification, clearing prescriptive and practice authority requirements by state, and maintaining accuracy across compliance systems
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for regulatory compliance and reporting
2. PC Entity Credentialing
- Manage credentialing and re-credentialing of the PC entity with government payers (Medicare, Medicaid) and health plan partners, ensuring enrollment is current and aligned with provider licensing status
- Maintain compliance with state foreign registration requirements
3. Partnership Readiness and Execution
- Maintain a real-time readiness matrix mapping provider credentials, active states, and prescribing authority against the requirements of each health plan and employer partnership
- Coordinate cross functionally to anticipate credentialing needs ahead of contract execution and surface gaps before they become launch blockers
- Oversee claims-based billing processes
4. Clinical Workforce & Staffing
- Track provider capacity and state-level coverage gaps; flag staffing needs aligned to active and anticipated partnerships
- Onboard new clinical hires into compliance systems (ProviderTrust, EMR, payer enrollment) and confirm state readiness before first patient encounter
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in healthcare operations, medical staff services, provider credentialing, or a related field
- Familiarity with provider licensing, payer enrollment, and credentialing processes
- Strong systems orientation — you maintain clean trackers, flag issues proactively, and follow through without being reminded
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-moving, remote environment
- Dermatology, telehealth, or value-based care experience a plus
- Hybrid in our DC office or EST timezone preferred
Why Join the Zest Team?
- Meaningful work alongside dynamic, mission-driven teammates
- High-visibility roles with direct exposure to company leadership and meaningful growth opportunity as the company scales
- Robust compensation package inclusive of competitive pay, equity grants, and retirement plan matching
- Employer-sponsored medical, dental, and vision plans
