What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Manager position at Zero Manufacturing?
SUMMARY
The Facilities, Maintenance, & Tooling Manager is responsible for coordinating the design, planning, construction, maintenance and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees. There are also responsibilities relating to designing, scheduling, repairing, storing, and use of tooling per regulatory and production requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, budgets, and schedules facilities and equipment modifications and maintenance including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts, and contracts for construction and acquisition.
- Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
- Oversees the coordination of building space allocation, layout, communication and security services.
- Assigns personnel and supervises maintenance of all facilities to assure compliance with changes or additions to various codes and/or regulations, i.e. buildings APCD, etc.
- Coordinates and supervises work of outside contractors as necessary.
- Coordinates moves of equipment throughout the plant and hire outside assistance where necessary.
- Reviews utility provider contracts.
- Oversees facility landscaping.
- Carries supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ZERO’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of issues and situations requiring sound judgment and decision making skills.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical and facility maintenance, and machinery and manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to perform shop/construction mathematical calculations.
- Thorough knowledge of building codes and regulations of various state and local agencies.
- Ability to read/program Allen Bradley PLC’s.
- Ability to read and interpret and follow documents such as detailed complex drawings and blueprints, operating work instructions, safety rules and procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. (All instructions are written in English Language)
- Ability to work with close tolerances using true position and ensure parts are manufactured to meet the tolerances specified.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates may have experience with:
- Fixture design/building
- CNC programming/operating
- Setup & operating of manual mils, lathes, surface grinders, and horizontal saws
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of issues and situations requiring sound judgment and decision making skills.
- Ability to perform shop/construction mathematical calculations.
