Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role: We are seeking a QA Engineer who will own the human side of quality — someone who can deeply understand the product, think like an end user, explore how the system can break, and identify risks we didn’t even know to look for.

This is primarily a manual, exploratory, and regression-focused role. Automation will become part of the role over time, and we will want to see you embrace these responsibilities,  but our immediate need is for someone who can find real defects, not just verify known paths.

You will be our first line of defense for product quality and a key partner to Product, Design, Engineering, and our Go-to-Market teams.

Key Responsibilities

Own Product Quality Day-to-Day

• Become a deep expert in the product and its workflows
• Think like real users — including those who do unexpected or incorrect things
• Identify fragile areas, edge cases, and risky behavior patterns
• Proactively test areas that are likely to break, even when no test case exists

• Execute manual regression tests before each release and “smoke” tests as part of each deployment
• Maintain and evolve the regression and smoke test suites to reflect new features and real-world usage based on feedback from end users and product analytics data
• Perform exploratory testing focused on unusual user behavior and edge cases
• Identify gaps in test coverage and propose improvements

• Audit and rationalize a large existing regression suite
• Remove redundant, outdated, or low-value test cases
• Rewrite unclear or overly granular tests
• Organize tests around business workflows, not UI components

• Investigate and diagnose reported issues
• Write clear, actionable bugs with steps to reproduce and expected vs actual behavior
• Audit and clean up the existing bug backlog
• Collaborate with Product Owner to prioritize issues based on urgency and criticality

• Work with Product, Design, and Engineering to understand upcoming changes
• Contribute to sprint planning and release discussions with actionable test plans
• Communicate what was tested, what wasn’t, and what risks remain

• Over time, partner with engineering on automated end-to-end testing for stable workflows
• Identify which manual tests are good automation candidates
• (Automation is not the core of this role today.)

Required Qualifications

• 2 years experience in manual QA / test engineering
• Strong exploratory testing skills — you enjoy trying to break systems
• Experience maintaining or redesigning regression test suites
• Ability to analyze workflows and system behavior
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to create clear and concise bugs that can be understood and resolved efficiently
• Experience working in Agile teams and contributing meaningfully to standard Scrum Events / Ceremonies
• Curiosity and a strong sense of ownership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing workflow, configuration, or data-driven systems
• Familiarity with test management tools
• Exposure to automation frameworks (without being automation-first)
