Position Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Specialist to support growth within the Defense sector in Florida. This role focuses on opportunity identification, relationship development, capture support, and compliance with federal and Florida defense standards. Ideal for candidates experienced in DoD contracting, partnerships, and standards-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, research, and pursue DoD and Florida defense-related opportunities.
- Build and maintain a strategic opportunity pipeline aligned with company goals.
- Develop relationships with DoD offices, defense contractors, and Florida state agencies.
- Support capture planning, competitive analysis, and win strategy development.
- Participate in industry events, trade shows, and defense networking forums.
- Assist with RFIs/RFPs, proposal development, teaming agreements, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure alignment with FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, CMMC/NIST 800-171, and Florida procurement standards.
- Track market trends, competitor actions, and regulatory changes impacting Florida’s defense sector.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
- 3–7 years of business development or capture experience in Defense or government contracting.
- Knowledge of DoD procurement processes and standards.
- Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, and cybersecurity requirements (CMMC/NIST 800-171).
- Experience with Florida defense markets preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office/365.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing network within Florida’s defense ecosystem.
- Experience supporting proposal development and capture strategy.
- Understanding of MIL-STD, ISO, and defense compliance environments.
- Experience using MyFloridaMarketPlace procurement portal.
- Active or eligible security clearance is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
