ZenTechnology Position Overview
The Database Administrator (DBA) will provide operational and maintenance support for a mission-critical production database environment. This role is responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, and recoverability. The position is operations-focused and does not involve new application development.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity
- Perform routine database maintenance and performance tuning
- Manage database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and outages
- Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
- Support production operations and maintenance (O&M) activities
- Assist with minor schema updates or configuration changes as required
- Document database configurations, procedures, incidents, and resolutions
- Collaborate with internal application teams and IT stakeholders to support system stability
- Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and accessibility requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on production database administration experience
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Database backup and recovery
- Disaster recovery planning and execution
- Performance tuning and query optimization
- Monitoring and troubleshooting production databases
- Strong SQL expertise, including complex queries and database objects
- Experience supporting operational, mission-critical systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience supporting government or public-sector systems
- Familiarity with hybrid on-site/remote work environments
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work onsite in Baltimore, Maryland, as required
- Successful completion of a background check (post-award)

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
