Roles/Responsibilities:
- Job Duty 1: Database Monitoring & Maintenance
- Monitor MDCS database performance, health, and stability.
- Perform routine maintenance, index management, and optimization. Ensure backup processes are functioning properly and reliably.
- Job Duty 2: Troubleshooting and Incident Response
- Diagnose issues affecting MDCS application performance or availability. Respond rapidly in the event of system degradation or outage.
- Restore services and database functionality, including rollback or backup restoration when necessary.
- Job Duty 3: Disaster Recovery
- Maintain and test recovery procedures. Ensure high availability and data integrity.
- Recommend improvements to MDCS reliability and performance.
- Job Duty 4: Documentation
- Document database configurations, maintenance routines, recovery steps, and any changes being made.
- Create technical documentation of recommended solutions.
- Job Duty 5: Support and Coordination
- Work with OSCNP and OIT personnel to communicate issues, recovery steps, and impacts. Assist with minor enhancements or database structure adjustments.
Mandatory Skills:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Database Administration, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5 years of hands-on experience administering production relational databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle).
- Experience performing backup restoration, disaster recovery, query optimization, and performance tuning in a production environment.
- Experience monitoring database health and diagnosing system failures or bottlenecks. Ability to write, review, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions. Experience supporting applications in an O&M environment.
- It is preferred that the person has experience with government systems or MDCS-like eligibility platforms.
