This role is ideally suited to a commercially minded professional with experience in the optical industry who understands independent optometry, dispensing environments, and the needs of optical practice teams. Success in this role will come from building trusted customer partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering value through a strong understanding of lenses, dispensing workflows, and practice solutions. Candidates with experience in optical dispensing, optometry, orthoptics, optical product training, or business development within the optical industry will be highly regarded. The ability to communicate confidently with optometrists, dispensers, practice owners, and broader practice teams is important. Working alongside a strong team across customer service, professional development, marketing, and business support, you will help ensure our customers receive the right solutions, commercial support, and education to grow their businesses. This full-time role is in field based, (not office based), requiring the BDR to be well organised in territory planning and implementation. Daily activities include travel within the territory, face-to-face meetings, virtual meetings, and education sessions (including via phone, digital). Travel across Western Australia and interstate is required, along with occasional extended hours and weekend events, such as trade shows. REQUIREMENTS Proven experience in optical industry sales, business development, account management, optical dispensing, practice development, or a similar customer-facing role within eye care or optical environments Track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and hands-on experience employing multiple sales techniques Qualifications or hands-on experience in optometry, orthoptics, optical dispensing, or a related optical discipline are highly desirable Excellent questioning, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to deliver engaging presentations and training to optometrists, dispensers, practice owners, and practice teams Familiarity with CRM software (Salesforce) and working knowledge of MS Office suite is essential, especially Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint and Outlook. Valid passport, driver’s license, reliable motor vehicle and able to travel internationally and across Australia.
