Clinical Pharmacist

The Clinical Staff Pharmacist monitors and assures compliance to State and Federal Rules and Regulations, FDA requirements, manufacturer contractual agreements, and internal quality assurance checks while overseeing the dispensing of specialty medications.

Responsibilities

·        Review and verify prescriptions to ensure accuracy, appropriateness and compliance with all federal and state law and regulatory standards

·        Provide medication counseling to patients, ensuring they understand their therapies, potential side effects, and proper administration

·        Ensure safe use of medication by performing drug utilization reviews and the monitoring and reporting of adverse events and product complaints in accordance with regulatory and manufacturer requirements

·        Provide quality of assurance checks to all dispensed medications while participating in quality assurance activities, including med error reporting, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective policies and procedures 

·        Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians and patient advocates, providing guidance on pharmacy operations and best practices

·        Assist in payor and manufacturer medication-related audits

·        Provide clinical and operational training to staff, including pharmacy interns, students and other healthcare professionals

·        Develop and implement clinical programs that optimize patient outcomes based on latest clinical guidelines and protocols

·        Assume management responsibility over the entire pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager

·        Maintain appropriate security of the Pharmacy department

Qualifications

·        Active, unencumbered licensure as a pharmacist within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

·        Bachelor’s degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PharmD), or equivalent in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited institution.

·        Previous experience in specialty pharmacy or mail order pharmacy preferred

·        Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
