Job Title: Insurance Specialist

Position Overview:
Case manager insurance specialists assist with a special component of case management ensuring claims are opened, policy limits are requested, and health insurance subrogation has been set up properly. This position assists in determining the value of a case and ensures that subrogation reflects the injury. The insurance specialist makes it possible for successful case outcomes for all clients through their role.
Responsibilities:
o Execute and facilitate directives and casework assigned by AJZ, ensuring efficient workflow and case progression.
o Open liability, med pay, and UM/UIM claims with all applicable insurance carriers upon case assignment.
o Gather and verify all necessary documentation for claim initiation, including insurance details, accident reports, and client coverage.
o Communicate with insurance adjusters to confirm claim setup, obtain claim numbers, and ensure timely updates. Ensure policy limits are retrieved.
o Set up and manage health insurance subrogation with private insurers, Medicare, or Medicaid, including sending required documents.
o Track the status of open claims and subrogation files, resolving issues and delays proactively.
o Maintain thorough documentation of all insurance-related communications in Neos and hard file where applicable.
o Coordinate closely with case managers and attorneys to align insurance handling with case strategy and timelines.
o Alert the team to potential claim issues that may affect settlement or require litigation escalation.
o Where needed, offer backup to intake team and case managers on inbound phone calls.
o Other duties as assigned by AJZ
Qualifications:

Relevant Job Skills and Abilities:
o Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in gathering insurance information, submitting claims, and managing subrogation files
o Strong communication skills for professional interactions with insurance adjusters, healthcare providers, and internal staff
o Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple claims and meet deadlines efficiently
o Knowledge of insurance processes and terminology, including liability, med pay, UM/UIM, and subrogation procedures
o Proficiency with case management systems such as Neos to accurately document and track case activity
o Problem-solving ability to identify and address delays or issues in claims and subrogation processes
o Collaboration and teamwork to coordinate with case managers, attorneys, and other departments
o Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential client and insurance information
o Adaptable and proactive, willing to take on backup roles, multitask under pressure, and contribute flexibly to team and office needs.
Education and/or Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years of experience in the legal field
1 year in the personal injury or insurance field preferred but not required
Spanish Preferred but not Required
Physical Demands of the Job:
While performing job duties, staff may be sitting for an extended period of time. Job responsibilities may also require occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. Frequent use of telephone and computer is required.
Benefits:
Health Insurance coverage is available 60 days after hire. New Employees receive Zayed Law Offices clothing after 4 weeks of employment. PTO, both vacation and sick days are available after 6 months of employment. Annual paid time off consists of 2 weeks of vacation, 2 days of sick leave and 4 flex hours. Working lunches are provided on occasion to support employee health and productivity.
