Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their shopping needs, ensuring a positive experience from start to finish
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately to process transactions swiftly and securely, handling cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payments
- Maintain an organized checkout area, ensuring all products are scanned correctly and receipts are issued promptly
- Stock shelves, merchandise displays, and ensure the store environment is clean, inviting, and well-organized
- Assist with inventory management by stocking shelves, conducting stock checks, and communicating low inventory levels to management
- Handle customer inquiries via phone or in person with professionalism using excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Support team members by supervising or mentoring new staff when needed, fostering a collaborative work environment
- Promote store promotions, loyalty programs, and special offers to maximize sales opportunities
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures while maintaining a secure cash handling process
Qualifications
- Prior retail sales or cashiering experience preferred; familiarity with POS systems is highly advantageous
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership qualities are a plus
- Bilingual abilities are valued to better serve diverse customer bases
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on clear, friendly interactions both in person and over the phone
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and performing retail math calculations
- Experience in grocery stores or retail environments is desirable but not required
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the store, and lift moderate loads as needed
- Enthusiasm for engaging customers through product demos and upselling techniques
- Knowledge of merchandising, stocking procedures, and store presentation standards
