Sr. Virtualization Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Virtualization Engineer to support a long term DoD project located in Radford, VA. This position will work to support a multitenant private cloud hosting environment to host a DoD customer's tactical applications. This is a fully onsite position that requires an Active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities Include:

• Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the client architecture.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of the VMware suite of products in the client environment.
• Utilize IaC for provisioning customer enclaves as applications are hosted on the client solution.
• Provide daily administration of VMware products, including patching and upgrading all VMware components.
• Monitor utilization of virtualization resources and notify the client lead when additional resources are required.
• Harden VMware products per commercial best practices and required government cybersecurity controls.
• Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis of hosting platform issues.
• Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, SOPs).
• Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
• Recommend improvements for security, scalability, manageability, and performance across network, storage, and compute services.
  
  

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in IT field
• 10 years of experience with VMware suite of products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation).
• Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across network, storage, server, and applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• IAT Level II Certification (CCNA Security, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, CND, SSCP, CAP, CASP CE, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, CCISO, or HCISPP).
• VMware VCA/VCTA or VCP Certification (must possess within 6 months).
  
  

Compensation Includes:

• $90,000 - $155,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
