Purchasing Manager (Electronics)

Background

Z-AXIS Inc. provides quality design, prototyping and contract manufacturing services for electronic products and electromechanical assemblies. These devices include LED drivers, sensing and measurement devices, laser drivers, machine controls, and electronic medical devices for a variety of customers. We also design and manufacture commercial, industrial, medical custom power supplies under our Bear Power Supplies brand. We are centrally located between Rochester and Syracuse in upstate NY. Our modern, locally owned 32,000-square-foot design and manufacturing center is ISO9001:2015 certified.

Job Description

An outstanding opportunity for an individual to manage an established four person purchasing team and execute day to day purchasing functions. Responsible for planning, organizing and executing the company’s purchasing activities. As purchasing Manger you will also be responsible developing sourcing strategies, executing profit enhancing contracts and searching for suppliers that create value for the company. We are looking for an individual who is motivated to learn and capable of performing a multitude of functions in a flexible, fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to the company president.

Job Responsibilities

• Developing, leading and executing purchasing strategies leading to business success.
• Manage sourcing and negotiate contracts with suppliers.
• Assess, manage and mitigate supply chain risk.
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
• Develop, direct and monitor purchasing systems, procedures and policies.
• Analyze inventory levels, production schedules and product demand ensuring both product availability and low inventory cost.
• Manage the Purchasing department including coaching and annual performance reviews for direct report.
• Maintain a collaborative working relationship with our supplier/partners.
• Work closely with Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure our customers’ needs and expectations are met.
• Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s in Business or equivalent experience.
• Supply management experience preferred.
• At least 3 years of electronics or contract manufacturing experience.
• Must be organized, detailed oriented and independent worker.
• Familiarity with sourcing and supplier management.
• Proficient in Word and Excel, and ERP systems.
• Strong leadership capabilities.
• Excellent negotiation, networking and written/verbal communication skills.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
