Structural Steel Project Manager

Position Summary:

We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects from early planning through final closeout. This is a field-based position with all work located in the Chicago area.

What You’ll Do:

• Take full ownership of commercial steel and metals projects ranging from $500K to over $10M in value
• Act as the main liaison between clients, general contractors, architects, and project partners
• Create and oversee comprehensive schedules, cost tracking, procurement timelines, and budget management
• Interpret and manage shop drawings, submittals, takeoffs, and contract documentation
• Direct field crews and erection teams, managing on-site sequencing and addressing jobsite challenges as they arise
• Lead regular progress meetings and maintain open communication with owners, subcontractors, and vendors
• Partner closely with estimating, detailing, engineering, and operations teams to ensure smooth handoff from award through construction

What You Bring:

• 5 years of project management experience in structural and miscellaneous steel
• In-depth knowledge of fabrication and installation methods, including stairs, railings, platforms, and architectural metals
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
• Proven success managing multiple complex projects in a deadline-driven construction environment
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
