What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal/Victim Advocate position at YWCA Northcentral PA?
A Legal Advocate to provide legal advocacy, individual advocacy, and systems advocacy for individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes. Assist victims through supportive services, individual counseling, and coordination of services through referrals to other providers. Establish and maintain effective collaborations with legal and criminal justice professionals. In addition, the Legal Advocate will provide individual counseling services to survivors in order to educate them regarding Crime Victims Compensation, Address Confidentiality, Emergency Relocation Services, and Economic Empowerment Services. Knowledge of court system, victim’s rights, and legal terminology preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field/equivalent required, as well as a minimum of two years related experience. Valid driver’s license, Act 33, 34, and FBI Clearances required. Qualified candidates shall submit a letter of interest to Human Resources. EOE.
