Job Description
On-call: Monday-Thursday 8am-8pm & Friday 8am-noon
The childcare worker selected will provide safe quality childcare and plans and will carry out childcare activities.
Childcare Responsibilities And Essential Functions
Education and Experience
GED or High School Diploma. Previous experience working with at-risk children of all ages in a childcare/supervised setting.
Knowledge and Ability

Childcare Responsibilities And Essential Functions
- Assures the safety, care, nurturing and comfort of children
- Plans and carries out childcare activities and holiday celebrations
- Assists children with physical and emotional needs
- Helps children resolve conflicts
- Maintains cleanliness and order of playroom for constructive play
- Washes toys in playroom monthly in bleach solution
- Maintains cleanliness of children's restroom including potty chairs
- Provides information to parents about childcare activities and the child's involvement and interaction
- Attends all staff meetings and special training available for working with at-risk children
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
GED or High School Diploma. Previous experience working with at-risk children of all ages in a childcare/supervised setting.
Knowledge and Ability
- Ability to work safely and effectively with at-risk children of all ages
- Ability to work as part of a team; ability to follow instructions and complete assignments; some knowledge of effects of domestic violence on children. Some knowledge of the effects of children growing up in chemically dependent household
- Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques helpful
- Must be certified in CPR and first aid during introductory period
- Climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, repetitive motions (of hands, wrist, and fingers), moderate lifting and carrying (up to twenty lbs).
- Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to handle environmental conditions inside and outside.
- Occasional high stress may be experienced in dealing with children, parents, staff and volunteers.
