How does this position make an impact on the community? This position is responsible for the case management of the YWCA’s Rapid Re-Housing Program for homeless families. Performance of duties reflects the YWCA value that all human beings will be treated with respect and dignity and approached with recognition of their individual importance.

The ideal candidate: Is passionate about the mission of the YWCA and:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
  • Three years’ experience working with domestic violence, sexual assault, or homelessness required.
  • Experience in database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and word processing programs required.
  • Current Montana driver’s license, acceptable driving record and proof of automobile insurance in compliance with Montana state law.
  • Must pass a background check designed to protect the interest of families served by the YWCA programs.

Some of what you’ll do in this position:

  • Works closely with Missoula’s Coordinated Entry system when receiving referrals to the Rapid Re-Housing and Transitional Housing programs.
  • Participates in interviewing and selecting Transitional Housing participants, along with the Rapid Re-Housing Program Manager and Director of Housing Programs.
  • Completes monthly Transitional Housing unit inspections for scattered sites.
  • Conducts intakes and assists in gathering documents for participants.
  • Assists participants in applying to housing resources and advocating as needed.
  • Ensures that program guidelines and policies are being met by participants.
  • Maintains and completes appropriate documents and case files for each participant.
  • Helps foster a sense of personal strength and self-sufficiency in participants.
  • Provides trauma-informed, holistic and culturally humble case management services to Rapid Re-Housing and Transitional Housing participants. Maintains written participant files.
  • Tracks program applicants and adhere to fair housing laws.
  • Advocates for participants in a cooperative manner with other agencies, law enforcement personnel, and other officials as needed. Coordinates comprehensive services with community agencies.
  • Solicits regular feedback from participants about program effectiveness and makes appropriate changes to better serve the program participants.
  • Alerts Rapid Re-Housing Program Manager and the Director of Housing Programs and others as appropriate to areas of concern.
  • Meets with the Rapid Re-Housing Program Manager and/or Director of Housing Programs and participants regarding concerns, including termination of program participation.
  • Generates new ideas to improve the Rapid Re-Housing services.
  • Submits reports as needed/requested.
  • Represents the YWCA in the community, including public speaking engagements.
  • Attends regular community meetings on housing, homelessness, and/or domestic violence.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, stand, bend and lift up to twenty-five pounds as needed.
  • Exposure to difficult situations and emotionally taxing client circumstances, including physical aggression, clients experiencing active substance misuse and unpleasant living conditions.

What else you should know: This position is full-time, 35 hours per week. Working hours fall between 9am and 4pm, Monday - Friday. The base wage for this position starts at $21.70 hourly – higher wages would be based on experience calculated using YWCA Missoula’s wage matrix.
