What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development (Before and After School) Assistant Teacher position at YWCA McLean County?
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for assisting the group worker in planning educational activities for a diverse group of children ages 5 – 12 years old, which includes embedding our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women, at before-and after-school program in elementary schools throughout McLean County. The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for building and maintaining open communication with child care families. This person will need to be knowledgeable of DCFS regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience teaching children or coursework in education/child development preferred.
- Proficiency in English required.
- Proficient in at least one other language is helpful.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required.
- Excellent classroom management skills preferred.
- Must be available to start work on August 10, 2026.
WORK HOURS
Part-time, 25 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 6:15 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. AND 2:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Pay: $17.25 per hour
