What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Lifeguard position at YWCA Central Maine?
YWCA Central Maine is searching for a hard-working, dependable individual to fill the part-time position of a certified Lifeguard. The Lifeguard plays a significant role in the overall success and safety of YWCA Health & Wellness Department activities. The Lifeguard position reports to the Health and Wellness Director. The position is part-time up to 25 hours a week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Surveying the YWCA pool and conducting rescues to help weak or injured swimmers get to safety.
- Speaking with swimmers to enforce swimming rules.
- Keeping track of each swimmer in the water.
- Administering first aid to injured swimmers.
- Ensuring the safety of people in the swimming pool
- Explaining and enforcing safety rules.
- Using knowledge of first aid to save lives.
- Checking the safety of the area and keeping it clean.
- Maintains cleanliness of pool area for health and safety of patrons and staff
Requirements:
– American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard with CPR for the Professional Rescuer
– Must be able to work independently, have knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to work as part of a team
– Must be 15 years of age
The position is located at YWCA Central Maine in Lewiston. Additional hours may be scheduled to meet the needs of lessons and classes.
